The business

Moto Machine is an established motorcycle business based in Sydney, specialising in premium and enthusiast-focused motorcycles, including Royal Enfield, MV Agusta and limited-edition motorcycles.

The business is more than a motorcycle dealership. It is a global flagship showroom that combines motorcycle sales, servicing, accessories, apparel, specialist expertise and experiences for riders.

Its physical business reflected that breadth.

Its website didn't.

The challenge

Moto Machine's previous website had become outdated and no longer represented the business to the degree it deserved.

The owner wanted something that felt substantially better - not simply a visual refresh, but a website that properly communicated what Moto Machine was, what it offered and why customers should choose it as their destination for anything motorcycle-related.

The challenge was bigger than simply designing a better-looking website.

The website needed to:

  • Better reflect the quality and personality of Moto Machine

  • Clearly communicate the different areas of the business

  • Make the customer journey simpler and more intuitive

  • Present motorcycles, servicing, accessories and other offerings effectively

  • Create clearer pathways for customers to make enquiries

  • Provide a professional digital presence worthy of the brands Moto Machine represents

  • Give the business a website it could continue to use and manage as it evolved

Most importantly, it needed to work as a business tool rather than simply an online brochure.

The approach

I started by understanding the business itself.

That meant looking beyond the website and understanding how Moto Machine operates, what makes it different, what its customers are looking for and how the different parts of the business fit together.

From there, I developed the structure, customer journeys and visual direction for the new website before designing and building the site from the ground up.

The focus throughout was on making the experience feel considered and intentional.

Every section needed a reason to exist.

Every customer action needed a clear pathway.

And the visual presentation needed to feel consistent with the quality and character of the business.

Rebuilding the customer journey

One of the biggest opportunities was to make it easier for visitors to understand Moto Machine, what they offer and to find what they’re looking for with ease.

The new website creates clearer pathways around the key areas of the business:

Experiences

Designing for enquiries

A major objective of the rebuild was to improve the connection between website traffic and real conversations with the business.

Rather than relying on a single generic contact page, enquiry opportunities were incorporated into the relevant parts of the customer journey.

For example, customers interested in servicing a motorcycle can submit a dedicated service enquiry with information relevant to their requirements.

This reduces friction for the customer while providing Moto Machine with more useful information when an enquiry comes through.

The principle was simple - make it easier for the right types of customer to take their next step »
